Glaucoma is considered to be a complicated disease which is related to the deformation of vision loss. It damages the optic nerves and cannot be detected until at the extreme phase. There are mostly two types of glaucoma - primary open angle glaucoma (POAG) and angle closure glaucoma (ACG).
Primary open angle glaucoma
The patient diagnosed with this will start losing his/her peripheral vision by damaging the nerve fibers. If you treat this lightly, there are high chances that you might end up losing your vision permanently. With its advanced stage, the straight vision might have 20/20 chances but images outside of the center field will get blurred.
Angle-closure glaucoma
In this condition, the intraocular fluid gets blocked by the iris from draining properly. It generally has acute attacks, with the IOP rising to an unsafe level. This is quite severe and if not treated within hours, you can end up with permanent vision loss.
General symptoms of glaucoma
It mainly results in the buildup of intraocular pressure rapidly, with the following signs:
# Haloed or cloudy vision
# Severe headache or nausea or eye-pain
# Photophobia or the eye getting sensitive to light
# Disorder of excessive blinking or blepharospasm
# Out-turned or crossed eyes, known as strabismus
# Vision with decreased clarity or amblyopia
# Incessant tearing or epiphora
# Reddening of the eye
# Appearance of rainbow-colored circles in front of bright lights
