It should be remembered that endometrial ablation is not a surgery as the doctors do not make any cuts. Instead, very thin tools are inserted through your vagina that can reach the uterus. The procedures completely depend on the type of ablation a woman has.
# Balloon therapy- A thin tube is inserted with a special balloon into your uterus. The balloon has heated fluids, which then dilates and destroys the lining.
# Microwave- Microwave energy is applied to the uterine lining damaging it.
# Freezing- Also known as “cryoablation”, the doctor inserts a thin probe with a cold tip, which freezes the uterus lining.
# High-energy radio waves- This procedure involves putting electrical mesh into the uterus. It expands, and then, heat and energy are transferred by powerful radio waves. These radio waves destroy the linings, which the doctor pulls out by suction.
# Hydrothermal- In this procedure, fluids are pumped into the uterus and heats it. This damages the uterine lining in 10 minutes.
# Electrical- This is not a commonly used method. In this procedure, the doctor uses electric current to end the ablation.
